INSULATOR OF THE MONTH
Reprinted from "Crown Jewels of the Wire", January 2007, inside cover

GOT THE BLUES

At first it was Chip McElwee who had the blues. Searching through bucket after boring bucket of common insulators, Chip had just about given up on finding anything good. Then he pulled out this sapphire CD 145 B (Brookfield). Now, Rick Hess has the blues... well, this blue. Rick acquired it at the Mid-Ohio show, and says obtaining this zinger was a matter of being in the right place at the right time. Only a handful of sapphire B's are known. Rick says "this piece is right up there as one of my better finds, and looks great in my collection of B beehives."
