Letters to the Editor

Reprinted from "INSULATORS - Crown Jewels of the Wire", February 1983, page 28

Dear Dora,

One of the interesting things about collecting CD 121 toll insulators is the embossing variations encountered. The different AM. TEL & TEL CO. embossings would be a collection in itself.

Prior to moving to Florida I lived in Maryland and worked for C. & P. Telephone Company. I listed every variation of embossing of this particular toll in my collection and those of fellow collectors.

Earliest Type:

No dome markings (lt. aqua)

Later Type (A):

Dome #1 (lt. aqua, blue, green)

Later Type (B):

Dome #.1 (lt. aqua)

Embossing variations of above:

(1) C. & P. TEL. Co.

(2) C. &. P. TEL Co.

(3) C. &. P TEL Co.

Latest Type:

Dome #.2 (aqua, green)

(1) C. & P. TEL Co.

The embossings of the different types vary even though the period sequence is the same. I have never seen a letter or any other number on the dome of these insulators. Would be very interested to know of any additional variations or information about the C. & P. TEL Co. insulator
Good Collecting,
Kenneth M. House
