Thanks To All Of You

Reprinted from "INSULATORS - Crown Jewels of the Wire", March 1980, page 3

You're important to Crown Jewels magazine, and we want you to know it. All of our subscribers are the very 'cream of the crop' in this hobby of insulator collecting. I have enjoyed meeting you collectors either personally or just through your letters. I assure you it has enriched my life in the past eleven years of being editor of Crown Jewels. I am but one person, and you are my family.

Thanks for your great letters of appreciation and support. It seems they always manage to come right at a low point when I need the support and encouragement.

Many people have written, and even phoned on occasion, to inquire about the health of the hobby, especially when it seems that so many collectors are selling out their collections. Please don't worry -- it seems to me that there are at least one and a half new collectors for every one that retires from the hobby. Hardly a day goes by that I don't get at least one inquiry, sometimes two or three, about Crown Jewels magazine, plus new subscriptions. So I would say the hobby is alive and well.

As for the gas crunch, hmmmmmm, I guess we'll just have to wait and see. But so far, every show we have gone to has been very well attended, and trading and selling have been very brisk, with lots of new collectors all eager and ready to learn all they can. It really keeps our enthusiasm up to talk to the new collectors and renew old friendships. Shows and Sales are fun times and also educational. Try to attend as many as you can this year.

In the 'round-the-clock' busyness of putting together this magazine for you, I may not say this very important word as often as I should, so again I say THANKS to all of you.

Dora
