Antenna Insulator

This interesting insulator was sent in by Mr. Ralph Folkman of Cleveland,
Ohio. We can't tell if this is glass or not, as our contributor didn't
clarify. We are giving you the information he has sent on this.
Mr. Folkman was present at the Ohio Insulator Company, Barberton, Ohio in
July 1929 when this insulator was purchased for the proposed police radio system
in Cleveland. They were told by the insulator company officials that this
insulator was made on special order from France, to be used on the Eiffel
Tower. This company made a "baker's dozen" and had this
insulator left over after the Paris order was filled. In September 1929
this insulator was installed in the police antenna system, one of the first
law-enforcement radio circuits in the U.S. Mr. Folkman worked as an
operator in the station, so when this old system was taken out and new equipment
installed, he salvaged this insulator for his collection of wireless and radio
items.
We thank Ralph for this information and drawing, and welcome any and all of
you to send in your oddities.
