Civil War Relics
Reprinted from "Crown Jewels of the Wire", May 2006, page 7

Micah Flood sent us the picture below to report the recent discovery of a threadless insulator from a "Civil War trash heap". While the address, "16 BROADWAY NY", makes it clear the item is a Tillotson product, we weren't sure exactly what we were looking at and asked for additional pictures. The image we got next (2nd below) reveals that the insulator broke rather cleanly in half at the wire groove. It appears to be a CD 736. Micah says the color is dark green. A friend found what they thought was an "egg" insulator in the same pit. But the picture, which was too dark to publish, shows it is really the dome of an apparently unembossed CD 736. Our advice was "keep digging." Where there were two insulators, there could be more. Hopefully, not broken.

Micah is inviting readers to contact them. The email address is: sirmicah@yahoo.com
