Insulator of the Month - Got Junk?
Reprinted from "Crown Jewels of the Wire", May 2003, inside front cover
Once upon a time... I stopped at a large antique mall on the way home one day
to just browse through the two floors of booths available. I wasn't particularly
looking for insulators, as this mall was not known for ever having any good
insulators. After the first floor, and finding nothing of real interest, I
continued on to the second floor. To my amazement there sitting on a shelf by
itself was the most junky looking CD 106 star I have seen. The price of six
dollars wasn't too bad either! I think they were scraping the kiln walls that
day to make their quota. Keep checking those antique stores. You just never know
when something good or junky is going to be found.
