How's about a hair-raising story of an amazing find? How's about a difficult
to find style threadless in just about right out of the factory condition? How's
about it being an extremely rare color? And, get this ......how's about finding
it in the air?!? Well, folks, here's the story.
My friend, Ron Miller, has been collecting Canadian insulators for several
years. Recently he sold his threaded glass and decided to concentrate strictly
on threadless.
One day last year Ron got a call from a friend who works for the
"Hydro"----(which is power company in Canadianese). He had a couple of
insulators to show Ron. They arranged to meet at a restaurant. When Ron arrived,
he found his friend seated at a booth. On the table sat an aqua CD 136.4
Canadian Boston. His friend had found this old telegraph insulator on the side
of a house in town! Ron admired it, of course, but he had seen quite a few of
these in his years of collecting.
"Oh, yeah, there was another insulator up on this house too," his
friend said teasingly. "Are these kind any good?" He reached into his
jacket pocket and produced a CD 726 in just about the nicest condition possible.
Absolutely mint save for a fingernail-size flake on the base! Saying that Ron
was taken aback has got to be an understatement. He was floored! Oh....I haven't
mentioned the color. The color? A deep PUCE (burgundy) (purple) you get the
picture. It's hard to describe the fantastic color! Well, in my opinion, it
couldn't happen to a nicer guy. Ron was gracious enough to share this amazing
story with us. Please respect his wish that the piece is in his collection and
NOT FOR SALE. Thanks, Ron!
Good collecting, EH?
