The Yankee Pole Cat Spring Show and Sale was held on March 26, 2006. Once
again, the American Legion Post in Enfield, Connecticut was our host. The day
started early for me with a 4AM departure from home. I arrived at the hall shortly after 5AM and was met by Kevin Johnson. We began to organize the
tables/ chairs into their proper location. Doug MacGillvary was not far behind
setting out signs on the local roadways. The hall was ready for the dealers to
arrive before 6AM.

Corky Miller and two more CD 230's for his collection
As the sun began to come up (which was later this year as daylight savings
time had yet to begin. thankfully for the dealers as we did not lose that extra
hours sleep), dealers began to arrive in earnest. The day's activities were well
underway. We had presold 45 tables and I ended up selling 3 more in the morning,
this brought us to 48 tables, which is the most we have had in several years
and almost put us at capacity. We had lots of past dealers, but we also had
several new dealers, which was great. We had a great variety of dealers with
glass insulators, porcelain insulators, bottles, jars, stoneware, and other
miscellaneous collectibles. There were items for sale from 25 or 50 cents to
several thousands of dollars. This year, our dealers came from Connecticut, New
York, Texas, Massachusetts, Michigan, and Delaware. The Pole Cats sincerely
thank the dealers who came from nearby and a far to make our show a great
success.

The dealers were mostly setup by the time we let our first attendees through
the door a bit before 8AM. The crowds were steady all day, with a slight dip
around noon. Unlike past years, the crowd picked back up after lunch and continued
steady up until almost 2PM, which was the scheduled closing time. The time is a
sad time as it signals an end to another show! I always have much anticipation
to the show and then the time just flies. The day always ends way too soon. A
quick survey of the dealers found that they enjoyed the show and did well for
themselves.

Bill & Jill Meier's Display "Hemingray Experimental Age"
Andy Wadysz was setup and had one of the Twiggs pieces this attracted a lot
of attention during the day. How often do you get the opportunity to see (and
even hold) an insulator like that? A CD 123.2 Chester also was seen being shown
around by an attendee. This was the same one that made an appearance at the fall
Capital District (NY) show last year. Lots of colored signals adorned dealer
tables, which made for a colorful show.

Jill Meier and Ginny Way
Bill and Jill Meier set up a display table of unique Hemingray insulators. It
was neat to see some seldom seen pieces. Thanks for the effort guys. My thanks
also goes to Doug MacGillvary who once again handled the advertising and show
signage as well. Doug's work is kind of behind the scenes for the months leading
up to the show, but it is immensely important to get people through the door. My thanks
also go out to Kevin Johnson who arrived at SAM to help me setup the hall as
well as direct and coordinate the dealer unloading area. Again, Kevin has helped
out for several years now.

Jack Roach, all the way from Texas
A few days after the show, the American Legion contacted us. Once again, they
wanted to share their thanks for using their hall. How often do you hear of
that? As I mentioned before, the Post and the members I deal with during the
year have always been gracious towards us. Another part of that conversation was
a question to me: "Would you like to set next years date?" I replied,
"Sure!" So, we are locked in for 2007. The date is Sunday, March 25,
2007. Go out and buy your 2007 calendar early so you can circle that date.
Details will follow in newsletters later this year.
