Insulator Miniatures
Reprinted from "INSULATORS - Crown Jewels of the Wire", February 1977, page 32
Dear Dora,
This story has been a long time in the making, the major drawback
being my inability to get a good photo of the insulators involved. This problem
was finally solved when I found out my brother-in-law could get good pictures
for me (He works for an industrial photographing company.). As you can see, the
photos are excellent. I just hope they reproduce as well in your fine magazine.
(Photos on page following.)
I acquired both of these miniature insulators last
summer while vacationing on the south Jersey coast. Since I was only about 40
miles from the old Armstrong-Whitall Tatum plant at Milville, I decided to
travel the back roads in search of insulators. I stopped at a yard sale, and
there they were! Needless to say, I purchased them right away.
The one with a
C.D. 216 on it is listed in Milholland's last book and price list (1976), line
3462 - no CD - open.
The other one with a C.D. 155 on it is not listed in any
book I've seen. Both are mint, and clear in color. I guess their use was
salesman sample or paperweight, as they are threadless.
If you or anyone has
any information on these, it would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Bob Brophy
