NATIONAL - CD 154

Reprinted from "Crown Jewels of the Wire", September 2000, (Insert) page 27

Bruce Konold, Eagen, Minnesota

Bruce says: I began collecting almost two years ago. I found a line of Lynchburgs and I got hooked. My desire increased when I purchased some Dominions and a two-tone Hemingray. Then it was off to Zicme's and whatever colorful, rare ones I could find.

Joel Anderson is the reason I collect insulators. I saw his collection, then we went collecting with our wives one Sunday afternoon. The rest is history.

I have an exceptionally bright yellow-green Lynchburg that I "liberated" on a recent trip to North Dakota with my Dad. It's really fun to have a Dad, brother, nephew and daughters who collect. I'll never forget walking the lines with my dad in 90+ degree heat.

My dream insulator to find at this year's national was a cobalt Zicme. John Nasci had one for sale, and I bought it. I understand its one of six in the hobby, so I'm super excited to have it. An insulator that I would like to add to my specialty would be a CD 154 Hemingray in carnival. It would be a great addition, and it is one of the rarest CD 154's in the hobby.
