Best Specialty Exhibit

The National Insulator Association's award for Best Specialty exhibit went to
Dwayne Anthony for his display of insulators made by the Brookfield Glass
Company.
The CD 126 "blobtop" and the CD 145 "beehive" shown at
the top of the page demonstrate some of the outstanding character to be found in
Brookfield insulators.

Showmanship Award
Bill Ostrander nearly reconstructed an Arizona power line;
winning the Bob
& Phoebe Adams Showmanship Award
for the Best Dramatically Effective
Presentation.
Return from the Grave
Denley Bryson displayed Fred M Locke insulators
he repaired from pieces found
in an insulator graveyard.


Best Display of Threaded Insulators
NIA President Dudley Ellis presented Dave Elliott (left)
the award for the display judged best of threaded insulators.
Dave's exhibit
of North American tolls
features many colorful examples.


Best Exhibit of Western Insulators
The Nor-Cal Insulator Club awarded its prize for the
Best Exhibit of Western
Insulators
to Bob McLaughlin
for a display of products manufactured by his
family.
Included were the colorful
commemorative CD 162's
made by William
McLaughlin in 1972.


Go-Withs
Carl Scott was awarded best of category for Go-Withs
with his display of the
people who did the work
and the tools they used.

of insulator mounting pins and brackets.

his colorful display of Mexican glass. |

Winning the NIA's award
for the best display featuring colored insulators
was
Mike Green,
who entitled his exhibit after the first
telegraph message ever
sent,
"What Hath God Wrought?"

The Junk Yard
Another colorful exhibit is that presented
by Sean Green,
the son of Mike
Green,
with his display of what collectors affectionately call
"junk in
glass".
Flawed insulators with underpours, embedded nails,
huge bubbles, amber swirls
and giant bubbles
are the crown jewels of
Sean's collection.

Southern California Insulators
Denny Hackthorne 's exhibit of
insulators manufactured in California
won the
Central/Southern Counties Insulator Club
award for Best Exhibit Using
Southern
California Insulators.
CALIFORNIA GOLD!

Denny Hackthorne/s exhibit contained a gold mine of insulators
manufactured
throughout California, including EC&M's,
Cal Elec Works, and wooden
insulators
used on San Francisco's trolley car system.
