Markings On Porcelain Insulators

Reprinted from "INSULATORS - Crown Jewels of the Wire", October 1972, page 29

For the past year I have been doing extensive research on all types of porcelain insulators other than pin types in preparation for future publication of a book on these. An interesting part of this work is that of tracking down the origins of the numerous markings involved on "standard porcelain", line items and specialty insulators.

The markings listed below are from my card file and are published here at this time for the benefit of those who do collect these types of insulators. This list does not include the markings on pin types and which are already available in other publications. I would like to hear of any not in this list and especially those which occur on specimens in combination with full names, patent dates or patent numbers. If anyone has catalogs, buyer's guides, electrical industry indexes, trademark and tradename indexes, or specimens which can be used to attribute these and similar markings, please speak up.
