Kids Korner - All about me and my collection

   By Anthony Snell

My name is Anthony; I am ten years old and live in Western Australia. My dad is also a big collector of insulators. He has over 678 of them. In Australia we go on trips following old telegraph lines. We get all the insulators we want more of, or just the ones we don't have yet. We have been to Narambeen, ...                    [more]

CANADIAN FORUM

   By Robin Plewes

Porcelain Insulator News

   By Elton Gish

I thought we covered this type of insulator in a past PIN, but now discover it has been overlooked. There has been some interest recently in the old "submarine" insulator. Many years ago someone used that term and the guess seemed logical as a possible use for this most unusual insulator; namely, ...                    [more]

Character Study

Giant bubbles. Amber swirls. Frothy glass. Lots can happen in the making of an insulator to create specimens with special character. Swirls in the cobalt signal above seem to resemble a prehistoric drawing of a cave bear. In the one on the cover, the swirls seem to form a lion, or the Sphinx.
