Insulator Nicknames
Reprinted from "Crown Jewels of the Wire", January 2004, page 18
Since the beginning of the insulator hobby, collectors have attached
nicknames to certain shapes (styles) of insulators. The nicknames generally
originated because of a correlation of the shape to another object. In this
column this month, we list some insulator nicknames and their corresponding
CD style numbers. To see the shape, you'll need insulator reference books,
such as McDougald's Price Guide and Alber's Glass Insulators from Outside North
America.
