The Spool B.E.L. Co.
Reprinted from "INSULATORS - Crown Jewels of the Wire", February 1979, page 36
Dear Dora,
Enclosed is a picture of a gem I picked up for three dollars at a flea
market.
The spool, embossed B.E.L. Co, rotates free on a wooden pin threaded on
both ends and equipped with Brookfield signals. The pin and insulators rotate in
a brass yoke which is riveted to a 3/4 inch pipe nipple, which in turn is
threaded into a flange. It appears to be a handmade termination for power on a
building. I am told they appear on buildings in Morristown, Pennsylvania.
Respectfully,
E. M. Chisholm
