Insulator of the Month - THE FROG & THE PRINCE
Reprinted from "Crown Jewels of the Wire", April 2004, inside front cover
This amazing CD 145 "B" beehive has to be one of the most exciting
marvels uncovered in the hobby to date. The carcass of a small tree frog is
encapsulated in a long elliptical dome bubble. The intense heat of the molten
glass appears to have seared the outer flesh of the frog, but the cooler gasses
within the bubble protected the remains, preserving it within the void of the
bubble. The lasting details of the frog are remarkable, right down to the tiny
webbed feet! Over the past 10 years rumors have been heard and stories told of
the existence of such an insulator, but its whereabouts remained a mystery until
it appeared at the Yuma, AZ, Insulator Tailgater Show this past February. Dwayne
Anthony was the lucky collector to snap it up just before it hit the dealer's
table. More on this incredible discovery is presented in an article written by
Dwayne on page 10 entitled: The Frog and the Prince.
