Foreign Insulators

HURRAY! (AND HELP!)
Last month, Jack Tod and I unveiled our new book, "Worldwide Porcelain
Insulators -- 1986 Supplement." Can the companion book on foreign glass
insulators be far behind?
Great News! The First Revision of "Glass Insulators from Outside North
America" will be ready for collectors by June 1, 1986. Just one short month
away!
This new book will take the place of the rather thin 1981 version, which has
been fondly referred to as the "Placemat Edition."
Now you will be able to see a total of 230 scale drawings of foreign glass insulators,
beautifully done by Jack Tod, as well as representative traced markings, all known information on
manufacturers and a complete cross reference list giving both old and new CD numbers.
This revised and updated publication has been sorely needed for a long time.
I must apologize for taking so long, but it has been a rather Herculean effort
to say the least. I firmly believe that the extra time allowed will result in a
more complete and informative book for you, the collector. That's what it's all
about, anyway.
The former Milholland publication, "Most About Glass Insulators--4th
Revision," shows only 64 foreign glass items. These are listed under the
old CD numbers. Of these 64, specimens of all but 5 have been located for scale drawings. In our new book,
their old numbers have been dropped, and new CD's have been assigned to fit
into the separate Consolidated Design Chart devised for foreign glass insulators.
Let me take this opportunity to thank the many collectors who have either
made shadow drawings and taken measurements of insulators in their collection,
or have sent me the actual specimens, so that I could do this. You have all
helped to make possible this new book on foreign glass.
I shall continue to ask for your help in locating specimens of the
5 missing CD numbers, which are: CD 177, 798, 799, 835, and 945.
The following photos show a few of our new foreign CD's, drawings of which
will be included in the First Revision of "Glass Insulators from Outside
North America." Be sure to check the ad which will appear in your June issue
of CROWN JEWELS OF THE WIRE. Price and description will be given at that
time.
The following are some of the fascinating new foreign glass pieces described
in our new book.
