Fornasetti

This picture and description was sent in by a 13-year-old collector who
wondered if any of our readers could help him identify it. I admit I'm at a loss.
I've never even heard of one like it. So help! Help!
This insulator is white ceramic and has gold painting (hopefully, gold
leaf) on the groove and dome. Painted on it is "Happy 1958" and calendars of that year
with signs of the Zodiac. It has a double petticoat and on the inside is
"Fornasetti Milano" and below that "Made in Italy" painted on it.
The threads go the opposite way the pegs are made and they are too small to fit on a pin. It's 3 3 /4
inches high and 2 1/2 inches wide.
The dealer the boy bought it from thought it was a paperweight, and I
might guess that it could be a souvenir commemorating something?
