More Telephotos

Reprinted from "INSULATORS - Crown Jewels of the Wire", May 1979, page 20
Enclosed you will find two different photographs that you
can use for Crown Jewels magazine.
1. This insulator is a puzzle to me I will
try and see if I can get information on this one from the San Francisco
Electricity Dept. The base appears to be made of lignum vitae, and the top is a
steel cap, with a nut fasten (shown on another photograph enclosed) to keep
cable in place.
2. An all wooden lignum vitae insulator.
3. U-501 Ohio Brass
4.
U-634A Ohio Brass
Many poles have
cables that aren't tied to the insulators!
600-volt dc trolley line in San Francisco
1. CD #297 Due to the extreme height,
I can't locate the name. Could be F. M. Locke or No. 16. At foreground is a
strain insulator.
2. CD #287 This one could be F. M. Locke made.
3. U-625 W (circled) E
Corp.
4. U-670 Possible Victor made
These views were taken from the top crossarm of the pole in foreground.

If I ever come up with more
interesting photographs of old lines, I will send some to you in the future.
