St. Joseph Insulator /Bottle Show & Sale

The 4th Annual Insulator / Bottle Show & Sale was held in St. Joseph, MO
on Saturday, March 11, 2006. It was another great day with mostly clear skies and
temperatures in the 60's. But as we know, the weather can change rapidly and
Sunday was a day of 100 tornado sightings in MO and hail as big as tennis balls.
Luckily, St. Joseph was spared the tornados, but we had a round of golf ball
size hail. We hope everyone made it home without incident.

Our new facility proved to be a good idea, as we used nearly all of the
available tables. There were 39 dealers and 61 tables filled with insulators,
bottles, telephones, advertising, lightning rod equipment and other misc. Our
dealers came from 11 states and buyers from 10 states. We were very pleased with
attendance and estimate about 200 people came thru the door.

One of the non-insulator tables and a good crowd.
Special recognition was given to Glenn Drummond for traveling the most miles
--- from Notasulga, AL thru London, OH. Glenn has made it to 3 of our 4 shows ---
thanks. For the dealers, we were able
to provide a light breakfast (famous Pat Whitlock fruit cups) and a "not so
light" lunch (the more famous Linda Connell beefburgers) with the help of
several MVIC members. That allows the dealers to stay at the show all day
without starving!

Since we already have a request from a dealer for the same table next year,
there will be a 5th annual show in St. Joseph in 2007. Keep us in mind for an
early March trip to Missouri --- Saturday, March 10th at the American Legion
Hall. Thanks again to all the dealers and buyers who supported our show this
year. We hope to see all of you next year-and bring your friends.

A note of sadness: MVIC member, Tom Jeffers, passed away on March 15, 2006
from complications following surgery. Tom had a genuine love for antique
bottles, insulators and St. Joseph history. We will miss his smile and laugh at
our meetings and shows. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his wife, Sylvia and
his son, Boone.
