LOCKE# 25

Ernie Carlson describes the CD 342 Locke # 25 insulator (top) as one of his favorites. It's made of two pieces of glass cemented together. Ernie says it's one of his favorites based on the fact he's made more than a half-dozen trips to Southern Colorado to hunt along the one and only line on which that style of insulator was used. Show below it are two other classic Fred M. Locke insulators from Ernie's collection. Both are called "gutter tops" because the porcelain tops literally have a gutter to drain rain water away from the cross arm. The glass / porcelain combination is an M-2795; the all porcelain an M-2796.
