WEST AUSTRALIA VISITED
A letter sharing some pictures of his fine collection was received my P.M.
James of Busselton, West Australia. He described the pole in his yard as "a
two piece steel pole from the overland early telegraph." The pole certainly
looks different than anything we have here in the states. "The SEC
insulators at the base of the pole were supposed to have been used many years ago
for testing other insulators." (Picture below)
On the following page you
will see a display of insulators and old telephones which Mr. James displayed in
Busselton in 1989. Since that time he has acquired several more very old
phones.
Also pictured is a very colorful window of Australian and some American glass. "About 5 years ago we took an organized tour across Canada and
around American -- it was fantastic -- wish I could do it again and meet some of
you.
