BEST THREADLESS

Doug Williams received the NIA award for best exhibit of threadless
insulators with his display of items made in Canada. Displayed were insulators
used by the Montreal Telegraph Company (1847), the Dominion Telegraph Company
(1868), the Toronto, Hamilton & Niagara Electric Telegraph Company (1846),
the Grand Trunk Railway & Telegraph (1852), and the Colin's Overland
Telegraph (1865).
Doug noted that by 1870 there were 20,000 miles of telegraph wire in service.
Most of those lines would have been using threadless insulators.
