JACK & JUDY ROACH
Reprinted from "Crown Jewels of the Wire", September 2006, page 31
While in Texas for the National Show this summer, Linda & I were invited
to visit the home of Jack & Judy Roach and to view Jack's extensive
insulator collection.
Jack began collecting in 1966 when a GTE construction foreman gave him two
porcelain insulators and said, "Keep these; they don't make them
anymore." Well, he's kept a lot of them over the years; and now owns many
great ones. We've decided to feature some of his CD 134 Diamond P's in this
issue. On page 32 we show both the front and reverse views of three absolutely marvelous
examples. Anyone of these would be a "best of show" item.
On page 33 we show a half-dozen more from Jack's collection. The subject of who
made Diamond P insulators remains much debated. On the other hand, there's no
dispute that Jack's insulators are simply fantastic!
On a final note, Jack & Judy's hospitality is known to more than just
humans. See the picture on the back cover of this issue.

MORE 134'S
In addition to Diamond P's, Jack owns other great CD 134's, such as the jade
aqua milk CEW (left) and the bubbly emerald green unembossed example shown on
the right.

ABOUT THE COVER:
Finding amber swirls in an insulator is fairly common.
But rarely do you see cobalt swirls.
See pages 32 - 33 for a picture gallery of Diamond P insulators.
