Symbol of San Jose

While CD 120 CEW's are the logos for the Nor-Cal Insulator Club (front
cover), the insulator symbol for San Jose would be the CD 265 Fisher. An
electric railway was constructed in San Jose that used these unusual insulators
made for the Detroit Electrical Works.
The Western Regional Show featured an
exhibit of Fisher insulators and related items owned by several collectors. Your
editor passed up a chance to own perhaps the very first CD 265 known. While at
the San Jose flea market in 1968, I was approached by someone wanting to sell
one. Having never seen such an item before, I rejected his asking price of $70.
Seemed like an outrageous amount 35 years ago.
