The Editor's Desk
Reprinted from "Crown Jewels of the Wire", October 1987, page 3
I hope that you will enjoy the 1987 CROWN JEWELS SUBSCRIBERS and NATIONAL
INSULATOR ASSOCIATION MEMBERS combined directory issue. Included is the current
issue of "DRIP POINTS" which will give you all the details of this
year's National Show in Fresno, California. A complete pictorial report is also
included in this issue. Observations from behind this desk are that the hobby is
thriving. There has been a continued growth in the subscribership to CROWN
JEWELS which can be attributed to national advertising, increased attendance at
insulator, bottle and collectible shows and "word of mouth" promoting
by readers. Thank you!
The NATIONAL INSULATOR ASSOCIATION has made giant promotional and marketing
strides. It has been a year of redesign and rededication. I ask you to continue
your support of this fine organization and its leadership. If you are not
currently a member, join today!
The coming year will bring some new and exciting additions to CROWN JEWELS.
- COLOR photographs will be a part of the November issue.
- A new computer, laser printer and a software desktop publishing package
should a make a remarkable improvement in the quality and consistency of the
printing.
- Each month there will be a list of the new subscribers to CROWN JEWELS. We
hope that as you find a new reader who lives nearby you will take the time to
greet them and welcome them to the hobby. If you will turn to page 67, you will
find the names of new and renewed readers whose names came in too late for
inclusion in the regular listing.
Special THANKS ---
- To all of you who have contributed to the magazine with your regular
columns, articles, cartoons, advertising and letters.
- To Mike Bruner, Rod Krupka and Kevin Lawless for your assistance throughout
the year in the record keeping of the National Insulator Association Membership.
- To Mike Guthrie who, as Information Director for the National Insulator
Association, made the incorporation of "Drip Points" into the CROWN
JEWELS format a success.
Among the many mementos which decorate my office one can find on the bulletin
board a writing by Christian D. Larson entitled "PROMISE YOURSELF."
May I share with you two of the ten promises we should make to ourselves:
"To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living
creature you meet a smile."
"To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater
achievements of the future."
Good collecting, friends!
Carol
