Insulators shown on pages 33 through 48 are described on the following pages.
Note that when pictures of insulators are printed, the ink process is called
CYMK. That process mixes four colors of ink to try and reproduce the color of an
object. It is less than perfect. Brilliant colors often do not reproduce well in
ink printed on paper. To view the insulators in digital (RGB) color, check them
out on the website:

Photographing milky swirls in glass is difficult. To capture milky swirls as
best as possible, some photographs were taken with the insulators underwater.
While this reveals the milk, keep in mind when bidding that the insulator won't
look the same in daylight. However, it may look just as good, or even better, in
a bottom-lit display.
01 - 022.5 No Embossing battery rest, dark 7-Up green, near mint with only a
few very minor surface blemishes. Estimate: $60 - $75. Open: $45.
02 - 101
Brookfield (010), aqua, near mint. Nice amber swirling, particularly in reverse
dome. Estimate: $10 - $20. Open: $5
03 - 102 Diamond (135), midnight blue, three
tiny base flakes & nibbles, some minor wire ridge wear. The color is hard to
capture in a photograph. But the insulator has significant amber swirling that
gives a two or even three tone appearance when viewed at certain angles. The
Diamond on the front is faint, while the Diamond and blotted out embossing on
the reverse are even lighter. Estimate: $400 - $500. Open: $300.
04 - 102 Diamond
(040), milky aqua, one-inch annealing line in wire groove & dome.
Outstanding milk! Photographed underwater to better reveal the milky swirls.
Estimate: $30 - $40. Open: $20.
05 - 102.3 No Name (020), light green (unlisted
color), two flat base flakes, open bubble on base, otherwise near mint. Great
color for this KCGW product. Estimate: $50 - $75. Open: $40.
06 - 103 B (010),
green aqua, near mint, amber swirls enhance the color. Estimate: $25 - $35.
Open: $20.
07 - 104 Brookfield (050), lime green, small base flake on reverse,
small dome ping. Several bubbles add character. Estimate: $100 - $125. Open:
$60.
08 - 105 Am. Insulator Co (040), aqua, base flake and thumbnail sized skirt
chip on reverse, along with a wire groove bruise. Displays mint in spite of
damage. $65 - $75. Open: $45.
09 - 106.3 Duquense (020), light cornflower blue,
near mint. Embossing is strong on front, weak on reverse. Estimate: $125 - $150.
Open: $110.
10 - 106.3 Duquense (010), aqua, near mint, underpoured base.
Estimate: $20 - $30. Open: $10.
11 - 106.3 Duquense (010), blue aqua, near mint,
significant base under pour, extremely faint embossing. $75 - $90. Open: $45.
12 - 110 Brookfield (010), green aqua, two open bubbles on base, two factory flaws on
the wire ridge from a lehr kiss, some wire groove wear from use. Estimate: $200
- $250. Open: $95.
13 - 110.5 Nat. Insulator Co. (010 - segmented threads) light
aqua, small dome chip. Estimate: $75 - $90. Open: $45.
14 - 110.5 Nat. Insulator
Co. (050), light aqua, annealing line in skirt, otherwise near mint. $90 - $110. Open: $50.
15 - 112 New England Tel & Tel
(020), aqua, two small base flakes. Very bold embossing. Estimate: $25 - $30.
Open: $10.
16 - 113 No Name - Canada (Braille) (010), royal purple, excellent
condition for one of these: only a couple of partially flaked drip points and a
couple of drip points with open bubbles. Small wire ridge flake and tiny dome
ping. Far superior to most. Estimate: $225 - $275. Open: $185.
17 - 115
McLaughlin (030) citrine green, flat base flake removes one drip point. Citrine influences bring this jewel to life. Estimate: $250 - $300.
Open: $175.
18 - 116 Patent -1871 (010), aqua, near mint with only minor
nibbling here and there. Excellent condition. Estimate: $100 - $125. Open: $70
19 - 117 No Name (Ampersand), dark aqua, small flake on upper wire ridge, otherwise near mint. Amber swirl in reverse skirt. Estimate: $35 - $45. Open:
$30
20 - 120 C.E.W. (020), aqua, fracture / bruise on reverse wire ridge that
appears to be the result of an amber swirl (impurity) in the glass.
Otherwise near mint. Estimate: $125 - $175. Open: $95.
21 - 120 C.E. W. (020)
frothy aqua, wire ridge chip & roughness, small skirt flake at base. This is
one of the most fantastic CEW's you can ever hope to find. Exceptionally tall.
Full of bubbles large & small. This insulator appears to have been made 8
from the froth on the top of the batch of glass. Due to the poor quality of
glass, there are lots of annealing lines, but they are part of the character
of this piece. Estimate: ~ $1300 - $1800. Open: $1,000.
22 - 120 Unembossed
C.E.W. (030), dark purple, mint. With the dramatic amber blue streak, this is
arguably the finest unembossed purple C.E.W. known. That's solid C dome glass
from BELOW the wire groove. Estimate: $900 - $1200. Open: $700.
23 - 120 Un
embossed C.E.W. (030), straw, near mint with only the tiniest base flake. Has
a splotch of "snot" in the dome on one side and in the skirt on the opposite side. Estimate: $650 - $750. Open:
$550
24 - 120 Unembossed C.E.
W. (030), aqua with lots of amber swirls, near mint apart from some annealing
lines in the dome. This is the variety with smaller than normal threads. Aqua
unembossed CEW's are rarer than purple examples. Finding one with so much amber
is a huge bonus. Estimate: $700 - $900. Open: $600
25 - 120 Unembossed C.E.W.
(030), purple, only some very minor dome C wear away from being mint. Excellent
condition with an affordable starting bid. Estimate: $500 - $600. Open:
$450
26 - 121 Good (010), deep purple (grape soda color), three small base flakes
and several prominent annealing lines in dome and skirt. Priced accordingly.
Estimate: $100 - $125. Open: $75
27 - 121 Patent - Other (Pleated
Skirt), green with amber swirls, dome ding, two small wire groove chips, and a
thumb nail sized skirt flake. Beautiful color. Too bad about the damage.
Priced accordingly. Estimate: $75 - $125. Open: $60
28 - 123 EC&M (080)
"A" Mold, green aqua, base bruise on front otherwise near mint.
Specialists say aqua" A" molds are rarer than examples in cobalt blue.
Estimate: $850 - $950. Open: $550
29 - 123 EC&M (030) "B" Mold,
teal aqua, near mint with only very minor base nibbling and flaking. Gorgeous
teal coloration. Dozens, maybe hundreds, of bubbles. Estimate: $350 - $400.
Open: $275
30 - 123 EC&M (030) "B" Mold, aqua, slight wire groove
wear, and a few annealing lines in the dome, otherwise near mint. This is a
"rocker" due to an overpoured base. A crooked dome adds character.
Estimate: $225 - $275. Open: $200
31 - 123 EC&M (030) "B" Mold,
light blue, typical base flaking, nick on wire groove at front, small chip and
some flaking at top of dome on reverse. Pretty color and unlisted in the price
guide. Estimate: $225 - $275. Open: $190.
32 - 123 EC&M (010) "c" Mold, aqua, base flaking and bruise on
front. "c" molds are a scarcer mold variety. Estimate: $250 - $300.
Open: $190
33 - 123 EC&M (050) "G" Mold, light green, thin base
flake on reverse and tiniest wire groove nick. Estimate: $500 - $600. Open: $350
34 - 123 EC&M (060) "H" Mold, aqua with significant amber
swirling, typical base chipping. Amber swirls run throughout insulator, front
and back, skirt and dome. Estimate: $1,200 - $1500. Open: $900
35 - 123 EC&M
(060) "H" Mold, SAGE GREEN, couple faint skirt bruises and fractures
on front, some wire wear. Nice character bubbles, especially on the reverse.
Sage green is one of the rarest colors in EC&M's. At auction these have far
outpaced the Price Guide. Estimate: $2,100 - $2,400. Open: $1,900
36 - 124 Patent
- 1871 (010), aqua, minor wire groove wear otherwise near mint. Early Hemingray
product. Estimate: $20 - $25. Open: $10
37 - 125 W.U. (010), blue, near mint with
only some minor wire groove wear. Nice bubbles in skirt, and faint amber swirls
in dome. Estimate: $50 - $75. Open: $40
38 - 126 Brookfield (330), aqua with junk
in glass, small factory wire ridge defect from lehr "kiss", otherwise
near mint. The metal in the dome of this blob top is bright silver colored, with
bubbles and amber swirls surrounding it. Estimate: $125 - $175. Open: $80
39 - 126 Brookfield (120), aqua, near mint. This is the Western Union style blob top
with embossing under the wire groove as well as on the dome. Estimate: $30 $40.
Open: $20
40 - 126 Brookfield (380) yellow olive green, repaired to seal a dome
fracture. No missing glass. Exceptional color. Note: the fracture is NOT visible
in the picture. Estimate: $250 - $350. Open: $190
41 - 126.4 Am. Insulator Co
(020), aqua with milky swirls, near mint. Photographed under water to better
capture the milky swirls. Estimate: $75 - $100. Open: $40
42 - 126.4 W.E. Mfg
(010) sage green (unlisted color), couple minor surface nicks, otherwise near
mint. Overpoured base adds character. Estimate: $50 - $75. Open: $40
43 - 126.4
W.E. Mfg (010) lime green, near mint. Well placed amber swirls and bubbles
enhance value. Estimate: 75 - $100. Open: $55
44 - 126.4 W.E. Mfg (010) lime
green, some annealing lines in dome and minor wire groove wear. The skirt
contains a bubble that looks like a portal to "somewhere beyond the
glass". Estimate: $40 - $60. Open: $35.
45 - 126.4 W.E. Mfg (010) milky lime
green, base flake and small surface blemish. Photographed underwater to better
capture the milky swirls. Estimate: $50 - $75. Open: $40
46 - 126.4 W.E. Mfg
(030) dark aqua (not quite teal blue), near mint apart from some very minor
surface blemishes. Patent date is very delicately embossed. Estimate: $60 - $80.
Open: $40
47 - 126.4 W.E. Mfg (030) milky aqua, couple surface blemishes, an open
bubble on the base, and a flat thumb nail sized base flake. Great milk!
Photographed under water to better capture the milky swirls. Estimate: $75 -
$100. Open: $60
48 - 126.4 W.E. Mfg (040) green, near mint. Some milk and an
overpoured base add to its character. Patent date embossing is giant sized.
Estimate: $75 - $100. Open: $45
49 - 126.4 W.E. Mfg (040) aqua, couple open
bubbles on base. Milky swirls and severely overpoured base add character.
Estimate: $75 - $100. Open: $45
50 - 127 Brookfield, aqua, small, shallow base
flake. The embossing is weak, but the large bubble adds character to a pretty
insulator. Estimate: $15 - $20. Open: $5
51 - 130 Cal Elec Works (005), green,
repaired. Green 130's are exceedingly rare. Unfortunately, this one broke in
half roughly along the seam line and has been glued back together. There is very
little damage otherwise. Additional character: the insulator was mishandled at
the factory before the glass hardened, and is out-of-round.
You'll have to pay $7,000 or so for a green 130 in mint condition. This is
available for one-tenth that price. Estimate: $800 - $1,000. Open: $700
52 - 130
Cal Elec Works (005), aqua, small wire groove chip, wire groove nick, and a
minor dome ding. Still better condition than most. Character: This insulator was
handled by tongs when the glass was still soft. The skirt is concave in places,
making the embossing look like it was written on a curtain. Estimate: $500 -
$600. Open: $400
53 - 130 Cal Elec Works (005), aqua, a base chip & a
related skirt flake; and some minor wire ridge wear, otherwise near mint.
Great opening bid for the condition. Estimate: $450 - $500. Open: $375
54 - 130 Cal Elec Works (005), ice aqua, very, very near mint. Want one in
pristine condition? This is it. Estimate: $900 - $1,000. Open: $750
55 - 130
Cal Elec Works (010), satin aqua, couple minor wire ridge flakes in front. Can't describe it as "near mint", as natural elements have sand
blasted this piece to an attractive satin patina. Note how short the insulator
is. Estimate: $500 - $600. Open: $450
56 - 130 Cal Elec Works (010), aqua with
light amber swirls, four wire ridge chips including one that's thumb nail sized
on the reverse. Some annealing lines in skirt. 130's with amber swirls are few
and far between. Estimate: $400 - $450. Open: $350
57 - 130 Cal Elec Works
(010), aqua, seam line fracture from dome to wire groove, and some annealing
lines in the dome. This piece is comparable to the frothy CD 120 CEW (item 21)
offered earlier in this auction. But not only is this 130 filled with froth
and bubbles and junk, it is a GIANT. The insulator is 4 and 7/8ths inches tall. It weighs 22 ounces, compared to only 16 ounces for item 56. There's way over
an C inch of solid dome glass! Estimate: $1,000 - $1,200. Open: $700
58 - 133
B.G.M. (010), purple, near mint, ghost embossing above the wire groove. Estimate: $125 - $150. Open:
$95
59 - 133 Brookfield (020), yellow olive green,
couple very minor surface pings and annealing lines in threads, otherwise near
mint. The dome glass has layers of 3 amber colors. Estimate: $20 - $30. Open:
$15
60 - 133 Brookfield (100), aqua with amber swirls, near mint. Amber swirl
rises from skirt and dances through the dome glass. Estimate: $15 - $20. Open:
$5
61 - 133 Brookfield (229), aqua, open bubble on base otherwise near mint. This
is the double embossed variety (very large letters over very small ones).
Amber in skirt adds character. Estimate: $25 - $30. Open: $10
62 - 133 H.G.
CO. (010), ice aqua, small base flake & minor wire groove wear, otherwise
near mint. Estimate: $10 - $15. Open: $5
63 - 133 No Embossing - Canada (010),
light green, wire ridge wear, small dome bruise & two open bubbles on
base. Neat swirl start to threads. Estimate: $20 - $30. Open:
$10
64 - 133.1
Pat App For (030), dark blue aqua, small base flake and very faint annealing
line in dome. Crudely formed. Weak embossing. Lots of dome glass. Estimate:
$30 - $40. Open: $20
65 - 133.2 No Embossing - Canada (010), blue aqua,
several surface blemishes include wire groove nicks and a skirt bruise.
Estimate: $10 - $15. Open: $5
66 - 134 Am. Insulator Co (020), aqua, wire ridge
chip & bruise, open bubble on base. Estimate: $15 - $20. Open: $10
67 - 134 K.C.G.W. (010), green aqua, minor surface wear on skirt, otherwise near mint.
Estimate: $35 - $45. Open: $25
68 - 134 Patent - 1871 (030), dark depression
glass green, flat base chipping on embossing side, minor wear and several small
flakes on sharp wire ridge and some annealing lines in dome. Fabulous color.
Would sell for $1,250 or more if mint. Displays great. Enticing open price.
Estimate: $400 - $500. Open: $195.
69 - 143 C.P.R. (050), purple, minor wire ridge wear otherwise near mint.
Canadian Pacific blot out is clearly readable. Estimate: $50 - $75. Open: $40
70 - 143 Canadian Pacific (080) Withycombe, aqua, some external ridge wear but not
bad for one of these. Estimate: $50 - $60. Open: $40
71 - 143 No Embossing -
Canada (100) Withycombe, light green. Note: There is very little wear on the
wire ridges. This is one of the finest examples of this type around. For
complete accuracy: There is one very small, very faint and very insignificant
bruise inside the skirt at the base. If condition is important to you, you'll go
a long time without finding a better example. Estimate: $500 - $600. Open: $400
72 - 143 No Embossing - Canada (110) Withycombe, purple! Very little ridge wear
for this CD! Not only is this item one of the finest around in terms of
condition, the color is much darker than your ordinary piece. This is another
item for the discriminating collector of Canadian glass. Estimate: $475 - $525.
Open: $350
73 - 143.5 T-H E. Co. (010), frothy aqua, repaired. This insulator is
a blizzard of bubbles and snow and milky swirls. But the top appears to have
been glued back on. There are also two small base chips and an annealing line in
the dome. Priced accordingly. Estimate: $40 - $50. Open: $30
74 - 145 B (010),
aqua, open bubble on base, otherwise near mint. The skirt is filled with
bubbles, fizz and amber specks that remind me of anti-aircraft flak. Estimate:
$10 - $15. Open: $5
75 - 145 H.G. Co. (140), milky sky blue, small wire ridge
flake, otherwise near mint. However, the reverse side was buried in the ground
and is slightly hazy. Estimate: $200 - $300. Open: $95
76 - 145 H.G. Co. (140),
glowing honey amber, thin slice on dome at right seam line, otherwise near mint.
Estimate: $800 - $900. Open: $700
77 - 145 No Embossing (030) Pennycuick style,
blue aqua, couple very minor surface nicks, otherwise near mint. Estimate: $20 -
$30. Open: $10
78 - 145 No Embossing - Canada (010), light green with milk
swirls, minor wire groove wear and a couple surface nicks, otherwise near mint.
Underpoured inner skirt. Superb milk. Photographed under water to better capture
the milky swirls. Estimate: $300 - $350. Open: $275
79 - 145 W.G.M. (010) purple,
minor base wear on front, minor wire groove wear, and a skirt bruise on reverse.
Estimate: $40 - $50. Open: $35
80 - 151 N.A.T.CO. (030), glowing peacock blue,
near mint. For complete accuracy we note a faint ping on the reverse dome, a
couple very insignificant annealing lines in the dome, a graphite plume in the
inner skirt, and some roughness along the slightly overpoured outer skirt. The
drips are intact! In other words, the condition is excellent for one of these.
The photograph doesn't do justice to this piece. The color absolutely glows!
Estimate: $1,000 - $1,250. Open: $800
81 - 152 No Name (010), blizzard aqua, near
mint. This insulator is so full of snow it's a white Christmas all on its own.
You want to shake it up and watch the snow settle. Estimate: $15 - $20. Open:
$10
82 - 152 California (010), purple, some roughness on base with minor
nibbling, otherwise near mint. Great underpour. Estimate: $30 - $50. Open: $20

Fabulous example of a yellow California. Estimate: $250 - $300. Open: $200
84 - 161 California (020), aqua with milky swirls in the skirt, small base flake.
Photographed under water to better capture the milky swirls. Estimate: $30 -
$40. Open: $20

chipped drip points. Photographed under water to capture the milk at its best.
Estimate: $75 $100. Open: $30

Outer surface has only one very thin and very small flake. Estimate: $150 -
$200. Open: $110
90 - 162 Hemingray (090), yellow amber, base chip
affects two drip points and inner skirt has three chips. Tough color and not
far from true yellow. Estimate: $400~ $500. Open: $200
91 - 162 KCGW (010),
green, two small wire ridge flakes and an inner skirt nick. Nice hair-lip
underpour on left side. Estimate: $40 - $50. Open: $30

(010), royal purple, fracture from a "ping" goes halfway through the dome. Priced accordingly. Estimate: $40 - $50. Open:
$30
93 - 164
Brookfield (100), olive green, wire groove bruise and an inner skirt flake.
Estimate: $40 - $50. Open: $30
94 - 164 K C G Co (010), ice aqua, open bubble and
tiny nick on inner skirt, another tiny nick on wire ridge, otherwise near
mint. Base is "corrugated", a factory induced characteristic from
the annealing lehr. Estimate: $40 - $50. Open: $30
95 - 164 K C G W (020),
green, some wire ridge roughness and nibbles, otherwise near mint. Estimate:
$30 - $40. Open: $25
96 - 168 Hemingray (110), orange amber, very near mint.
Estimate: $30 - $40. Open: $20
97 - 170 No Embossing (unlisted), aqua,
several spots of minor ridge wear, and some nibbles around base. Note:
This insulator appears to be an unlisted variety. It clearly has American
style threads, and has a continuous drip for a base. Estimate: $50 - $75.
Open: $40
98 - 178 Santa Ana (020), yellow green, very near mint. There is a
1/8th inch open bubble on the base of the outer skirt. Estimate: $200 - $250.
Open: $175
99 - 200 Star (010), light blue, two inner skirt chips. The rest of
the insulator is near mint with only a couple minor surface nicks. Estimate:
$125 - $150. Open: $95
100 - 201 Hemingray (030), aqua with amber swirls. There
are several small areas of surface wear and light flaking, but the insulator
is in good condition overall. The drip points are intact. The amber swirls
are well positioned and make this a choice piece. Estimate: $50 - $75. Open: $30
101 - 214 Telegraphos (030), yellow golden amber (more yellow than the
typical golden amber piece). Very, very near mint. Estimate: $250 - $300.

bubble on the inner skirt. Estimate: $40 - $50. Open: $30
