CD Number Changes Effective November 1, 1972
Reprinted from "INSULATORS - Crown Jewels of the Wire", December 1972, page 16
The development of the CD numbering system has extended over the past 20
years. Because at the outset it was not anticipated that so many distinct styles
would be found, the system has suffered from growing pains, especially within
the last five years. About four years ago the "400 series" was added
to accommodate new items in the single and double petticoat side-tie classes.
Now, even the "400" numbers have been exhausted in certain areas.
Therefore, in order to allow for continued expansion while keeping the various
items in as nearly as possible a logical sequence, it has been decided to change
to a decimal system. None of the original numbers has been disturbed. Numbers
400 and above have been re-numbered to fit into suitable places.
It is regretted that some inconvenience will be caused by this change; but it
is considered best in the interest of long-term efficiency.
