Rob Gilkerson acquired the wood object shown below at an estate auction of a
power company lineman's 40 year accumulation of stuff. Rob thinks the item may
be a hand chiseled strain insulator made from a decay resistant wood like cedar
or juniper. The estate auction was in Canon City, Colorado.

This CD 134 is Larry McClain's favorite insulator. He says it was removed
from a house in Colorado Springs, CO in 1981. But, because it was covered in
three or four layers of paint, no one had a clue what a fantastic color lay

Best Color Exhibit
Jack Roach won the award for "Best Color" with this display of
beehives made by the American Insulator Company.
According to Jack, only four American beehives are known in amber. Greens are
scarce too, but look at the variety of shades in his display below.
