Kids Korner

Hi. Just wanted to drop a line  to let you know how much I enjoy CJOW. I wanted to show you our new backyard pole. My friend Killian and I put it together (with a little help from my dad). Dad had to cut a dead tree down & we talked him into making a display pole out of it. He says it might only last ...                    [more]

INSULATOR OF THE MONTH

LOCKE# 25

Ernie Carlson describes the CD 342 Locke # 25 insulator (top) as one of his favorites. It's made of two pieces of glass cemented together. Perhaps to bring a little fun into the job, workers occasionally placed coins into the molds. Shown below is a CD 121 Hemingray 16 that had an Indian head penny placed into the dome section of the ...                    [more]

The Hemingray Glass Company - Book Review

Most collectors are familiar with the May 2, 1893 patent for what we call "drip points." But they had another name in Ralph Hemingray's patent application. Do you know what the name was?
